Review of Iranian Blattisociidae (Acari: Mesostigmata), with an updated checklist and identification key

Abstract

Eighteen species of blattisociid mites were collected from Guilan Province in northern Iran. Hoploseius bispinosetus Faraji, Sakenin-Chelav & Karg, 2006 is a new record for the Guilan Province mite fauna. This paper provides a checklist for 43 blattisociid species recorded from Iran and an updated taxonomic key for their identification. Blattisocius cakmaki Khanjani & Safiarian and Cheiroseius wisniewskii Khalili-Moghadam have been added to the previous list of blattisociid mites of Iran. Information on habitat, regional distribution, and diagnostic characteristics for the examined species is also provided.
